Frequently asked questions.
I found a cat/kitten in my backyard, what should I do?
Don’t panic! Some cats need human help and some cats are just looking for food and a warm place to spend the night. How do you know how to tell the difference? Check out these two flowcharts from AlleyCatAlly.org : adult cat chart here and kitten chart here. Please follow up with us if you have any questions or concerns, as always.
I’m moving and my new landlord won’t allow cats.
In some instances, a loophole to this issue can be getting your cat(s) a letter to be your emotional support animal (ESA) if you are currently under care of a mental health clinician. Having a letter affirm your animal as an ESA means, in most situations, landlords cannot discriminate against you in terms of housing, and cannot ask you to pay extra money (pet rent, pet deposits, etc.) because of your animal. Note: an emotional support animal and a service animal are two different things; a service animal is trained to do tasks and allowed in more spaces than an ESA. More information on ESAs can be found here.
My cat got sick and I don’t have the money to pay for it. What can I do?
This is such a scary situation and we empathize with this feeling immensely. There are options. One of the most common resources is a credit card called CareCredit that can be used specifically for vet medicine. Many vet offices take CareCredit and although opening up a new credit card may not be the ideal option, paying off a large payment on your own timetable might work best for you.
Besides CareCredit, there are other pet oriented financial resources online.
